We have all heard the phrase “practice makes perfect,” and it is something that has been ingrained in our minds from a young age. And yet, somewhere along the way to adulthood, we stop practicing and we start grinding. We find one thing that we seem to be good at, and then we find a career. We fall into the daily grind, and we get complacent. Something goes wrong – we stop developing, and we become stagnant in a never-ending rotation of sleep, wake, work.

However, there is a way to break the pattern, use your passion and your interests for good, and ensure that you continue moving forward as a person and as a professional.

Who Is John Lajara?

If you’re not familiar with John Lajara just yet, you likely will be soon. Back in 2020, he was named and ranked as the Top 10 Realtors in New York by REAL Trends. “Being named the Top 10 Realtors in all of New York was certainly a humbling experience, but I owe my success to fitness – and I know that sounds odd,” says Lajara.  As such, he has become quite a figure in the real estate world, especially as the market continues to boom in the COVID-19 wave of real estate purchases.

With that said, Lajara has had quite an interesting journey to the top, but it’s something that he believes has allowed him to gain a deeper understanding of knowing just what it takes to reach the top.

“A lot of people don’t know it, but real estate isn’t my only passion. I’ve been a big fitness junkie for as long as I can remember, and I use it as an outlet. It’s a way for me to unwind throughout the day, both physically and mentally. Being named the top Hispanic realtor in Downstate NY was certainly a humbling experience, but I owe my success to fitness – and I know that sounds odd,” says Lajara.

You see, it seems as though Lajara has been able to use his determination for excellence and body positivity as fuel to help him further grow himself elsewhere in his life. Not to mention, he has a pretty hefty fitness operation called MAKRO Fitness and Nutrition, to go along with his successful foray into the real estate world. And yet, he sees the constant grind of two of his biggest passions as the catalyst for his success across the board.

“I truly believe that striving for perfection in the gym is what helped to jumpstart my real estate career. I learned to believe in myself, to pursue ambitions even if they seemed lofty, and to strive for my very best in everything that I do. It was about finding that inner strength inside me to pursue the best life that I could live,” says Lajara.

What Is The Secret?

Lajara believes that the secret to professional success is pursuing physical fitness success. He believes that far too many young professionals simply ignore their physical health because they’re too caught up in the grind. While common and understandable, he sees it as a detriment to their professional success.

“The way I see it, when you invest in yourself physically, the better off you’ll be mentally – and that’s precisely how you’ll be able to achieve professional success.”
